Les Davis Marine Park
An artificial concrete reef at this site starts at about 25 feet (7.5 m) down and continues past the 80-foot (24-m) depth. Several types of animal and plant life regularly visit the site, and it's a popular training site as well.

Loch Low-Minn Dive Resort
A buoyancy course consisting of eight geometric shapes floats about 3 feet (1 m) above the 30-foot (9-m) bottom. Underwater attractions include several small boats, and statues of David, a deer, sea horses, a donkey and a 5-foot alligator.

This 1,504-acre freshwater lake in Kootenai National Forest, just 35 miles west of Kalispell, Montana, in the state's northwest corner, is a favorite of many Montana divers.

Morrison Spring
Of three cavities in the bottom of the pool, one is 50 feet (15 m) deep; another is 100 feet (30 m) deep; and the third is 300 feet (91 m) deep.

Perch Lake

Philadelphia Quarry
The 3-acre spring-fed quarry in east Tennessee has a graveled shallow entry with training platforms at 17 feet (5 m), 25 feet (8 m), and 75 feet (23 m), and a buoyancy course.

Phillips Quarry

Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area

Portland Head Light is by far one of the most picturesque, historically significant and painted lighthouses in the United States. It is the oldest lighthouse in Maine.

Possum Kingdom
One of the oldest inland scuba diving destinations in Texas , Possum Kingdom Reservoir attracts multitudes of divers each year as a training ground for new divers in the clear waters of the lake. It's also a popular treasure-hunting site.

Quail Creek Reservoir
Considered best for diving in late summer or early fall, at least if you want optimal visibility, the 600-acre (240-hectare) Quail Creek Reservoir in Southwest Utah is in a state park of the same name.

San Solomon Springs
The most unusual aspect of San Solomon is that during the Great Depression the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) turned the springs into what was then the world's largest spring-fed swimming pool. In recent decades this pool has become a favorite open-water site for scuba training and recreational diving.

Strode Lake

The Wreck of the David Dows
At 265 feet, 4 inches (80 m) from stem to stern, the Dows was at the time among the largest vessels on the lakes. In fact the Dows turned out to be too big and too fast.

On May 3, 2000, the Mills was designated as New York State's first Submerged Cultural Preserve and Dive Site in Lake Ontario.

Theodore Parker
The wreck has been described as simply a very large hull with holes cut into the sides.

Thumb Area Bottomland Preserve
Divers will find 19 major shipwrecks in the 276 square miles (718 sq km) of the Thumb Area Bottomland Preserve in lower Lake Huron, Michigan.

After being repeatedly sunk and refloated, the veteran tug was packed with explosive charges and sunk in 100 feet (30 m) of water for the last time in 2000. It’s located about 14 miles (22 km) from Panama City.

USS Arthur W. Radford
It sits in 140 feet (42 m) of water with the top deck of the ship around 70 feet (21 m) deep accommodating divers with a range of experience, from recreational to technical diver.

USS Huron
The wreck of the USS Huron is a shore dive off the coast of Nags Head, North Carolina.

USS NEW HAMPSHIRE, GRAVES ISLAND
What was left of the New Hampshire drifted onto Graves Island. Occasionally divers can still find copper spikes that were forged in Paul Revere’s foundry.

Vamar Underwater Archaeological Preserve
Parts of the freighter still are recognizable, including deck beams, rivets and hull plates. The anchor capstan and chain are visible among the wreckage, as is the anchor hawse pipe through which the chain was led.

West Michigan Underwater Preserve
In addition to the shipwrecks in the area, divers can explore a 1920s steam crane that fell off a barge just south of Muskegon, ribbon cutting an artificial reef of cement rubble south of the Muskegon channel, and a clay wall, a naturally occurring structure northwest of the Whitehall channel.

White Horse Beach

White Star Quarry
Underwater, divers will find sunken boats, training platforms, cars, and a potato chip truck. Ice diving is prohibited.

Whytecliff Park
Home of the first saltwater marine protected area in Canada, this dive site is a popular location for dive classes and novice divers, which means it can be crowded on weekends.

Willow Springs Park
This spring-fed quarry in Richland, Pennsylvania, is loaded with underwater attractions.

Windmill Point Park
Windmill Point Park offers underwater dive platforms for dive novices and anyone wanting to hone their skills, as well as underwater treasures such as a small motor boat and a "hidden duck."

Windy Point Park
Divers will find boat wrecks and metal sculptures of a scuba diver, a sea turtle, a shark, a manatee and other objects. There also is a Jet Ski, some small boats, a sailboat, and a Pinto. Six platforms are routinely used for training.

Wood's Cove
It's fairly small in size, compared with some of the other coves lining the coast, and divers need to be careful entering the beach during high tide, but Wood's Cove offers two choices: a steeper drop-off with rocks and shells on the west side of the cove, and on the east side is an area more suitable for less experienced divers.

Wreck of the Islander
The wreck now rests 100 feet (30 m) offshore, at the foot of Market Street in downtown Alexandria Bay. It can be reached with a shore dive or a boat dive.

Wreck of the St. Peter
The St. Peter is considered an advanced dive and strong currents may be present.

YDT-14
Gulf storms have buried YDT-15 to its decks, but divers about 300 feet (91 m) away can explore YDT-14’s upper structure around 65 feet (20 m) and see its resident barracudas.

Yellowstone National Park
