What is it?

The GSM Mercury is the most advanced ultrasonic wireless underwater communication unit that OCEAN REEF has ever made.

This unit blends four different OCEAN REEF units into one: the extended range of the Gpower, the stereo-like sound of the GSM SL, the clearness and double channel option of their DC and the battery life of the Gdivers. With a newly designed rechargeable battery which lasts approximately 30 hours, it is foldable inside the mask and easy to operate. GSM Mercury is a digital, double channel unit and, depending on the surrounding environment conditions, its range may reach 800 feet (250 m). The Digital Activation System (DAT™) allows the option of transmitting in a hands-free mode. A series of impulses are sent out, automatically keeping the unit in transmit mode for 30 seconds, after which it will return to receive mode for 20 seconds. This is useful when it is necessary to have both hands free while transmitting, making diving safer and more comfortable.

Another benefit of the DAT™ system is its use during an emergency. By activating the DAT™ a series of impulses will emit every 30-20-30 seconds, which can be received at a great distance by search and rescue workers and other divers. The Mercury features two speakers for louder and clearer communications and two separate channels for privacy in separate conversations, such as with teams or communication between students and their instructor.

The GSM Mercury can be assembled only on OCEAN REEF integrated diving masks (IDMs) with an “Extender Frame.” It is compatible with all OCEAN REEF underwater wireless units and competitor units with same channel.

Benefits to your diving:

The OCEAN REEF GSM Mercury is a communication system that is easy to use, lightweight and within a recreational diver’s budget. Not only does the automatic activation system make it hands free so that you can concentrate on your dive, it can act as an emergency beacon in case of incident.
