Regulators

A scuba diving regulator is the breathing device. Composed of two “stages,” the first stage of the regulator connects to the tank and the second stage, at the other end of a hose, delivers air to the diver’s mouth. It is called a regulator because it regulates the high pressure air from the tank down to a breathable flow. The first stage of dive regulators also has ports to connect a backup second stage, a tank pressure/depth gauge or a dive computer, and the inflation mechanism for the BCD. The setup is often called an Octopus.
